MIMU Process
The Moving Image Museum is a hypothetical rebrand that focuses on capturing the depth and versatility of film through a fresh perspective.
Brand Identity System / Custom Typeface
My goals were to celebrate the magic and connection that film has with guests and to create an atmosphere that was flexible through the elements, such as the typeface, grid, and colors.

Developing the Logo
With my intentions, I explored various ways to show how to reflect the flexibility and magic from film. I noticed that the letters of the acronym (”mimu”) had a sense of movement and roundness through the shapes. It felt as if it was connecting one letter to the other.
Developing the TypefaceFrom the logo development, I used the one unit to create a modular typeface that was unique to MIMU. Throughout the process, I played with how the x-height would work in relation to how the other letters would be placed. I created alternatives for specific letters due to spacing differences in certain situations.
Developing the SystemBecause the typeface was the main focus, I wanted to reference film as a second and subtle read through the other elements of the poster. Through that, I was able to use the various screen formats that film were shown through as a grid for the whole layout, and it became an element that is shown throughout the different collateral.
I wanted to keep the colors simple and dynamic where it creates an experience for the guests to feel welcomed and relatable. Through various explorations, I decided to reference the setting in which film is watched -- usually under the night sky or in the dark of the theater.
